Lupin First TV Series Cover Art and Date; No Blu-ray Planned

The Discotek/Eastern Star release of "Lupin the Third: The Complete First TV Series" has been dated for release on June 26th, 2012 in North America.  Cover art below the jump.

Also, Discotek Media currently has no plans to release the series on Blu-ray. From Discotek's Facebook posts:
"There's no point doing Blu-ray. The Japanese release looks worse than the DVD version. We checked. We're only going to do something on Blu-ray if its a significant improvement over the DVD. If not, why bother?"

They are undoubtedly referring to the sloppy remastering job which resulted in freeze-frames used to address scenes with no movement. These are barely noticeable on DVD, but the stationary film grain is hideous on a high definition TV.

POLL: Favorite Recent TV Special or OVA?

Click here to vote in the poll!

I just wanted to let our casual readers know that we are currently running a poll as to which is your personal favorite recent TV Special or OVA. It's partially due to my own curiosity, and also to serve as kind of a "community recommendation" reference. You'll need an account on the Forums to vote, so please register (it's fairly painless), even if you don't plan on posting ever again. The poll asks why you prefer a specific Special, but if you don't have a substantial reason, that's fine, just vote anyway!

The nominated TV Specials are any of the ones that aired between 2001 and 2010. "First Contact" is omitted because that's almost everyone's favorite and including it doesn't help narrow down other good titles from that era, because everyone would just vote for "First Contact." The list also includes "Green vs. Red" and "Return of Pycal," the two more recent OVAs. So, please, let us know what your preference is! Inquiring minds want to know!
