After my sudden and prolonged absence, our two intrepid hosts return for Lupin The Words, LupinTheThird.Net's official eighth podcast! LtW's brand new and jeezum crow, it's pretty darned good. It's also really long! Close to a two hour run time and covering a breadth of topics, this show is not for children over five, those of the feint of heart, individuals with preexisting foot conditions and men pregnant or nursing. {Seriously it's G rated, definitely SFW}. Important Note! As always, Reed and I go pretty in depth about a number of topics, and as such spoil several films, OAVS, and episodes. The ones in question this show are Episodes 2 and 4 of Red Jacket, The Castle of Cagliostro, and the Mystery of Mamo. Subjects discusssed follow: ~General briefing on Lupin Vs Detective Conan. ~Discussion regarding Zenigata & Fujiko potential spinoffs! ~Lupin on BluRay! A lot of psuedotechnical stuff follows the discussion: Those still watching Lupin on VHS might wanna skip (the really great details) until we get to some related dub discussion. ~The Lupin The Words Mailbag! Site Status and Missed News |
Hey everyone, here's a quick rundown of the situation. The site is back up and running. (I got rid of the tacky glitch that I was hiding from everyone, which was basically a side-effect of trying to add a podcast feature to Joomla.) Content will be added in due time, and we're hoping to have a podcast sometime next week. We already have a scheduled recording time and everything. Some Lupin the Third news items that have come and gone in the past several months: - Lupin the 3rd vs. Detective Conan TV Special aired with great ratings in Japan. Still waiting on a fansub of good quality from fansub group joint DCTP and Frostii, but a mediocre one has been spotted in the wild. Here's our discussion thread.
- Lupin the Third: Sweet Lost Night (~insert superfluous subtitle about a magic lamp here~) TV Special aired last summer (I don't think we've mentioned it on the main page before). I believe there's a fansub of this one by Froth-Bite (before becoming Frostii).
- Japan website Goo recently posted the results of a poll asking which anime characters deserve their own spinoffs most. The top two results were Fujiko Mine and Inspector Zenigata from Lupin the Third. (Source: GATSU and AICN-Anime) Similarly, Zenigata got no. 6 in an Oricon poll for "best supporting character in an anime series." (Source: JoYi from the Forums)
- Castle of Cagliostro, Mystery of Mamo, all of Part I TV and a couple collections of Part II TV were released to Blu-ray Disc in Japan. If you're from North America, these BDs will play in your units (PS3s included), however none of them include English dubs or sutitles.
- An alternate Lupin fan podcast, Lupin Has Three Jackets has been making a successful go at filling the gap between "Lupin the Words" entries. Feel free to give them a listen-to.
