Could still happen later on, but for now at least, Discotek's DVD release of "Legend of the Gold of Babylon" is on indefinite hold thanks to the state of anime sales (i.e., slow).

I just realized that even if the live-action DBZ becomes a hit, the strike will keep any further anime adaptations like Lupin from happening. So assuming(praying, really) TP doesn't bail out of WMW, it was still nice while it lasted. If it makes you all feel any better, none of the old-timers would have imagined the series even lasting this long. But if Orguss can get a second chance at success, Lupin will, too one day.

What? How does this have anything to do with discotek's releases.

It just looks like Fuma's the last one we'll be getting for a while.

Bummer. I'd glad Fuma finally came out and I was hoping we'd see Babylon sometime next year but now I guess we'll have to wait quite a while.

Can't say I'm really surprised. Everything that can go wrong with this franchise seems to go wrong. I sorta figured anyway that after Babylon, we wouldn't be seeing anything Lupin in the states aside from future re-releases of Cagliostro. Oh well...

Well, my sneaking suspicion that Babylon might not hit DVD first came about when Fuma was bumped up and Babylon pushed back. Also helps explain the lack of Babylon trailer on the Fuma disc (although it's notable that he did not use the Fuma anime trailer on the live-action disc in 2006).
Sadly, suspicions were confirmed, more or less. And as much as I wish I had a lot of weight with the guy(s) in charge at Discotek, I don't think I hold enough to say "hey Discotek, release it," and they'd just go "okay yeah, it's happening!"
Like I said in the OP, Babylon may still happen but I think we're looking at a delay on a scale of several months, more likely a couple years.

Well, I got ANN to report it, so here's hoping it'll sell more copies of Fuma...

For everyone's reference, article is here. I posted this in the ANN talkback forum just to clarify matters. Cross-posting in here for LTT.net forumers' benefit. To clarify to the ANN readership, the exact wording of the indefinite delay "(i.e., slow), etc." was mine, not Discotek's.
Without putting too fine a point on it, I would say they are primarily concerned about not making back their investment on Lupin releases in general, not necessarily "Babylon."
IMHO, that's why "Fuma" got bumped up and "Babylon" pushed back indefinitely: "Fuma" is easily the more "sure bet" between the two. EDIT: Posted to the LtT.net front page.

I'm not entirely surprised by this, although I am a bit disappointed as I would like to experience the film dubbed and in DVD quality.

How about suggesting a preorder scheme, a certain about of subscriptions and they release. I personally wanted to buy several copies of this movie and distribute it between friends.
Will the US never see Pink Jacket Lupin?
We need to convince them somehow, I'm sending them an email, lets start a camapign guys.

The best thing you can do to get Babylon out here is to buy Fuma, and/or let anyone else who might be interested know about it.
