What You Say About His Company...

Yeah, I have no clue what is going on here, but this just got forwarded to me. No one's around to translate if it's even viewable, and this could very well be fake, but it showed up on 2ch just a bit ago. Original link to the picture is here.  Now, I'm a bit of a Conan fan myself. And I love Lupin. I sub both. Yeah. I'm keeping the exclamation marks to a minimum, just in case this is fake and I have to hire a hitman. Oh, and apparently it's supposed to be announced in this week's Shounen Sunday (the magazine that Conan is serialized in). We buy the magazine for our manga team, so if this is true, we'll be scanning and translating every line of text on the page. UPDATE: Japanese friend said: "A show of Conan VS Lupin is gonna be shown soon as a special Conan show." UPDATE #2: Japanese friend that what he can gather from the side text, it says: "The two heroes Conan and Lupin have a great fight for a treasure."
UPDATE #3: ANN has picked it up. Thinking it's going to turn out to be totally legit, and it's finally time to get excited. DCTP will do this, and they will do it fast. |

Wow, this is exciting. I've always thought of these 2 series together. Both are under achievers in English. Both had runs on Adult Swim, had their time slots constantly changed, and usually came on back to back. The companies that Dubbed them (TV series wise) dubbed well beyond what was originally released on DVD and were/are sitting on the rest. (Luckily we have the Season Sets for DC now). Plus both have a Detective/Inspector who can be pretty smart at times and also a bumbling moron.  In the end, with Lupin even if he got arrested (which he has many times) he'd just escape as always. Though I doubt he'd make it away with whatever he's out to steal. Considering it's being announced in DC's magazine and is a "Conan" special, I doubt Lupin would be able to get away with the item. Unless of course it serves as a teaching lesson for Conan/Shinichi, in which case. All I said before is pointless. |

Oh wow! This is HUGE news! By "special", do you mean an episode or an actual TV special? Well, Conan has a lot of TV specials that serve as episodes, so my guess is it could be a separate special titled "Lupin vs. Conan" that airs in Conan's timeslot. They both air on NTV, after all, so this is very, very plausible. Lupin & Fujiko were also directly impersonated in the opening of the 11th movie. |

Dragonball and One piece... There you go. The Manga chapter Cross Epoch was awesome. But as far as the animated specials go, I always complain that the DB characters could take out the One Piece villains they face in the blink of an eye. I admit, most crossovers are more exciting during the build up to them. But still I look forward to this. |

The reason most crossovers don't work out is because they try to combine universes that don't make any sense being together--at least Conan and Lupin are set in the "real world". As different as they are, they are much more compatible than most others.
